Programs:
Oxford Singing Children
Oxford Singing Children is an auditioned choir for students in 4th-7th grades. The choir provides basic musicianship skills, performance experience and other musical opportunities, while building friendships and learning the benefit of teamwork.
Under the direction of Mary Lynn Luke, Artistic Director and Eva Bone, Assistant Vocal Director, Oxford Singing Children and Oxford Youth Singers perform Christmas in Covington to celebrate the holiday season in December. With the expertise of Jay Tryall, Assistant Director & Choreographer, the groups collaborate again in the spring to perform a musical.
Auditions for the 2011-2012 school year will be held August 13, 14 & 16.
Appointments for auditions may be made by contacting the Arts Association office beginning August 6th.
OSC and OYS members from the previous season do not need to re-audition.
Rehearsals begin on Thursday, August 23rd.
Singers in the 4th-7th grades who audition for membership in Oxford Singing Children should be prepared to perform the following for the audition: sing scales to determine the singer’s vocal range (Ms. Luke will accompany on the piano), sing a song the student is comfortable with (can be as simple as Happy Birthday; Amazing Grace), and clap rhythm patterns by repeating rhythmic patterns that are clapped for them (echo clapping).
Fees:
